Our three free trial sessions are open to swimmers of all ages and abilities, children and adults alike. Children usually join us from late Stage 5 or Stage 6 of lessons (typically age 7+), once they can swim 25m front crawl and backstroke. If you are not sure whether your child is ready, contact us and we will help you decide.

Our squads are mainly based on ability rather than age, so the ages within a squad can vary a lot. Most children start in our Junior Squad, and after the trial sessions the coaches recommend the squad that suits the swimmer best.

The swimmer joins the squad we have agreed with you, sees what club training is about, meets the coaches and other swimmers, and experiences a different side of swimming from lessons. There is no charge and no obligation to join.

Normal swimwear, goggles and a water bottle. Every swimmer is given a club swim hat when they join. For regular training we also recommend flippers (fins) and a kickboard.

No. As long as they enjoy swimming, we are happy. Competitions are there for swimmers who want them, starting with friendly team galas.

For some squads, yes. When we arrange the trial sessions we will let you know if the recommended squad currently has a waiting list.

When the coaches feel a swimmer is ready to move up, we have a conversation with the swimmer and their parents to explain how the new squad works before anything changes.

Yes, we can. Please contact the club before booking so we can talk about the swimmer’s needs and plan the right support together.

The trial sessions are free. After joining there is a one-off setup fee, which includes Swim England registration, and a monthly squad fee collected by Direct Debit. Current prices are on our Membership Fees page.
